It has been a rough ride for the last few months. 2 keys persons who has been looking out found the value proposition that they are looking for. Then a tired, enough is enough left for Financial planning industry. Then, the FSI key figure made a move. Even the lowest profile person decide to get a go with freelancing. WOW !!

I suppose this sort of cleansing process is part of every business cycling & hopefully is for better. There has been too many shivers around by some captain crows, the nosy barristers with an attitude of I have something in the bag lately. Tonite, I got news that one of them has met up with the S’pore mgr of a mid level top international search firm. Just like all of us here, all she needs is better platform to launch from, especially something that is win-win rather than a win-loose. So, she is probably going to make it through. :D. If that is really true, God bless that firm and I wish her all the best. :p

On the other hand, even lady butterfly indicated that everyone is free to go for the better, to go for their dream. Just that when we are here, then we need to do our part. :D does that indicate she is also in a process of looking out ? Haha, who would when the deal is win-loose fr #1. Oh well, her advise is certainly a very valid one & I am just going do just that - diligently do my part while I am here.

In our line of work, we truly truly get to meet many types of candidates. There are some who is so mature & considerate, humble despite big achievements…. there are also candidates who are totally way off, thinking that they are out of the world, candidates who are petty & calculative, there are also candidates who are ever generous & positive…..And then there are also the “I want it all”, the “I am bored, next”, the “things are getting rough, I am getting out”, the “opportunist”…..in between. Some of this leave us totally inspired, some of this leave us wondering & pondering, the other leave us speechless and bizzare.

This morning, I was the speechless one. In fact, I have been speechless for sometime with this candidate.

Experience wise, there is nothing to shout about. Presentation wise is just so so. Then you probably ask why then I profiled her. Oh well…because is a SAP talent :) That’s all.

In SAP market, the well experience, shining SAP talents are mostly doing  contractual projects or hired by the SAP consulting partners. This talent is in one of the IT arm of an end user environment. Just coincidentally, the company is subsidiary of a listed company in KLSE. Yes, it is years of supporting role, no consulting experience, no project management experience, no client management experience, no conflict management experience, no overseas exposure.

While on the other hand, my client is one of the prominent international O & G. Being O & G, international travel, project & cross cultural projects is certainly in the picture, superb all round grooming within the organization, more than excellent benefits that encourages growth & retainment of staff & family, stock options and many more.

4 months of to & fro, the hiring manager called to chat many times from overseas, the talents is still trapped in own made smallness - scare shitless about travelling to London for project for 6 months, admitting possessing no differentiating factors than other SAP talents yet demanding a package of the sky. Gosh…. If life such perfect stage ? :-? How I wish :P. Amazingly, my client actually impressed me with their willingness to meet in between by providing contractual bonuses on top of performance bonus, sign-on bonus, permitting shorter stay abroad & frequent return, answering even some questions that shouldn’t be asked because it is corporate P & C…….and the list goes on & on.

However, in the end, smallness remained. It is so bizzare. :0 How can one did not see the brightness of career beyond, failed to have the courtesy of returning a good gesture, leading people on for months & still have the guts to think it is okay to turn it down & still have chance to return in the future. I suppose sometime some level of ignorant is bliss.

Now this person’s name is gonna make such an impression with me, everyone whom I liaised with from my client side…I wonder if anyone of us were to move to somewhere else in the future & should this person’s CV or name surface again, will anyone of us consider or give a strong cautious warning…. :D

I once read somewhere in a marketing statistic report, it said - a good name is compounded by 7 while a bad name is compounded by 11. :-?

It has been days, going through hundreds of themes to decide which is the best for my weblog. Finally, I found something that i like so much - Fast track. But, not everything is working fine. Oh gosh……………..Never cross my mind that starting my own weblog is such a stressful thing. I know I know, some of you techies out the will not agree. But, you see, I am not exactly a techie.

I have some of my ideal & stuff for the weblog. There seems to be not one theme that can give me that “total package”.  No, no, no, I am not looking for A - Z. I just wanted my weblog to include functions/features for

  • registered “friends” area,
  • a “contact me” area, (yes is already there, but it is not working !!!!)
  • ability to have the nice fonts that i want, the ability to set a standard font colour for post title, the ability to have different font colour in my posting content,
  • move some of the arrangements of sidebar
  • a couple of stuff more……..

It is such a tough job for me, oh man, I surrender. At my wit end, I remember a great superb developer/technologist candidate of mine who is totally absolutely passionate about tech. I guess I need to enlist his help, no choice. :P Hopefully he will be willing to give a helping hand. SOS sms and a mail out. Now what ? The hardest part —— WAIT………………..

Yes. It has been 11 days since I last blogged. No no no, not that I am lazy, not the standard execuses of busy. But because something new & more permenant was brewing.

Recollection :

I switched from my job listing blog @ blogger to headhunter’s blog. I dedicated it to be a place where all my candidates & candidates to be (hopefully, clients & clients to be as well) can come back often & gather around for friendships to blossom.

Merely short 3 days of getting into it, the light bulb went on and a brilliant ideas was birth. Yes, you guess it right. Have a blog of my own with a URL name reflecting what I enjoy doing - connecting with people, connecting my clients & candidates in the right match of expectations and requirements. Charting the Destiny Steps !!

Ta ta….. the birth of www.destinysteps.net. Thanks to a dear friend’s kind assistant & load of patient. (you know who you are ;) Thanks a million. muaahhh!!! Love you sister.

This is only the initial. Hopefully, I will be able to round up enough technical geeks in my circle to accomplish more & better in this space to serve you better, to make you feel cosy & comfy around here. (Any volenteer in PHP yet ??? :p)

So, here is the run down of things - all postings prior to June 13 are imported from Blogger. From now on, is right here at Destiny Steps. So, please do hang around, explore & return for more.

Note : Loads of jobs coming up next. So, don’t linger too far away. ;)

it is always very interesting to see the reaction of people when I instroduce myself as headhunter, the facial expression, the response…… Fun stuff!! Usually, thing most people will say is : oh, can I pass you my CV. But when I said that I personally focuses on ICT, then it is another set of facial expression. It is either excitement if they are in this industry, or disappointment if they are not in this industry.

For those who are not in the ICT industry, many will have a chain of questions such as why didn’t I cover that industry as well………………bla bla bla bla.

Oh well, so I thought I shall address this here. Yes, I personally focuses more on ICT, Technical & services/consulting/presales positions primarily & sales positions secondary, followed by back office admin such as HR/Fin/Legal. However, it is not all doom for those who are not in this industry. You are still welcome to deposit your CV with me. The likelihood is I will be able to pass your CV on to my fellow colleagues who are working on industry such as Commercial, manufacturing, FSI, …… or even to my freelance headhunters friends.

Just one common rule applies. Please do not expect instant miracle. In that I mean, headhunters are no job dispenser :D. We do not dispense jobs as & when you wish or decide to move on. Time is always a factor in most of the things in life. Same goes with career move. Always allow yourself with a mid term view of 6 - 9 mths, at least, for the something suitable to really take place. That is why it is always good to park your CV with headhunters. By doing that, you are putting yourself in the traffic flow. What happen next is, when a job match happened, they will call you, instead of you calling them. Kool ya.

Yes, in “desperateness”, many candidates may adopt the spray bullets kind of approach. But please note also that nowadays company uses many agencies for contingencies placements, if your exploring is not “managed” and happened to be submitted to one company by various agencies, then it will raise the a question mark. My advise is, yes 2 cents worth, if you wish to increase your chances by quantity, then work only with a select few agencies/consultant whom you trusted & have relationship/friendship with, whom you know will at least act for your favour and you will be able to manage your exploring.

Yup yup, that much on my 2 cents worth of advise lar…… :) So I wish you all the very best in your career move search.

Its Monday. Monday blue !!! A hard time to get the cold engine started :P.

Stepping in to the sphere, the Brit & the Bollies are in early discussion. I suppose is about Lady Butterfly. :p

After the woman man & the conspirator, somehow the Jln Ipoh & the bollies are super clickies nowadays. The whispering followed by the laughters, the the regular treason session of no chimny bollies and the Jln Ipoh, the small group gathering at the bollies corner….. Topics ? Which episode ? God knows what else it can be other than about Lady Butterfly and the no 1! It is always about how inappropriate her words & action can be, her dressing,… who is in her good book & who is not, why are they in the good book & why are they not…. desperate house wives, …….it is never short of topics for the conference, even those who chose or happened to be “performing” can be a topic……

Oh well, this is the part that spice up the monotonous life here :) The pair loves to do things that become a topic….so, ppl talk lar. What to do ????

I better get back to work, else I probably be the next to be told having too much of a play time.
