Destiny Steps

How can I not write about this ? It is daily affair in my working space which makes life colourful.  

Several months ago, we have this new addition from one of a reputable IT MNC. Someone whom the management claimed to be very senior, experience and well connected. In the management point of view, this addition is to strengthen the bottom heavy team & to leverage on the business network of this person. Well, cool, more business means more revenue. Excellent!!

Ever since that day of this new addition, we have ample supply of cakes, pisang gorengs, egg tarts, nasi lemak,…The girls who are on diet watch are screaming out loud. The most intriguing part is he is so very eager to be part of every conversation. I truly mean every conversations !! Even conversation between female colleagues concerning female interest or conversation between cubicals which are far from where he is seated, he will hear it & quickly wiggle his way over & volenteer his personal related experience. It seems to us, there is nothing on earth that he or someone whom he know has never experience. All of us are so amazed, truly amazed with him. We can’t help but wonder if he also has experience with PMS. We found our answer last Thurs.

Last Thurs, during an informal closed gathering for early celebration of Christmas, someone was talking the 14 storeys flat in Seremban which is known for committing suicide. Guess what ? Even that he has a cousin who actually jumped to death at that very building :-0 !! We were all in awe, so in awe at that very moment. Then a colleague could not take it anymore, she just burst out laughing right there. She laughed so hard, so very hard that she fell of her chair.

Everyone in the team is wondering how best to tell him, buy him a skirt for Christmas ? Any suggestion ?

A headhunting associate of mine has a position for Clarify Clear Basic Developer. This person has to have at least two years of Clear Basic development experience. Telco industry experience a plus. Time truly flies. 2 more weeks, we will be bidding farewell to 2006 and welcome 2007. Year end is always a good time to reflect, review, ponder before setting sail again. Although it is common notion that new year resolutions are meant to be broken, 2006 has been a really good year for me. Good in the sense that I have stayed on course in many things, at least 3. In work, in personal finance & in personal fitness. So, around this time of the year, am truly grateful. Thank You God.

In the last one month, for those who know me, they have seen my tagline consistently to be - Focus 2007 !!. Yes, I have been “living in 2007″ in a way. Am I so eager towards the new year? No exactly. What I mean is, I already started some of the ground work & execution plan of 2007. I personally thought waiting for 2007 to arrive then only start the excution of your plan or resolution is basically too late. 

So, I would like to take  this opportunity to urge all my candidates to set aside sometime during this festive season, putting thoughts for your career. On a bigger picture & longer term : ask yourself what is your mission in your life or do you have a mission ? What really is your heart desires relating to life & career ? Do you have a clear & specific & detailed idea about it or is it just plugging from the air, anything will do ?

From the bigger picture, break it down to medium/short term of what do you need to do to put you steps nearer to your goals ? Is it your knowledge ? Is it your know-how ? Is it  your education ? Is it your PR skills ? Is it your maturity ? Is it your communication & language skills ? Is it your strategy ? Is it your attitude ? Is it your aptitude? Get the biggest & clearest & honest mirror & stand before it & see for yourself.

Establish your goals, put them down on paper or your digital copy. Go back to your TREASURE MAP every week if not every day. Define your execution road map, work on it & LAW of ATTRACTION will in due time happen to you.
