The Secret11 Nov 2007 02:32 pm

Often time, tough time & rough patches in our life is a blessing in disguise. It was in a time when I was deep in the valley, a friend, a dear friend, a fellow Anthony Robbins graduate, invited me into his personal office and show me a chart. It is not an ordinary chart. It was a chart of his dreams, desires, goals. It was done on a pin up with pictures & words cutting from magazines. This is the chart he hang on the wall in front of his desk. He look at it each day, ponder, meditate, visualise. He shared of many amazing & awesome expereince of how many of his dreams, desires, goals became reality through this exercise

Was I convince ? Hardly. But, what do I have to loose doing this since I was already in the very bottom of life valley. So, I did my, digitally. I spent some time, did serious soul searching in the process, thought through what I really want in life, in total picture. Subsequent to that, I left that chart somewhere in “my document” folder. Nine months later that year, out of the blue, I re-opened that file. As I scaned that page. I was the one who was in awesome. Why ? As I scaned the items, I realized many items have become reality. There were so many “done” that I can put on the chart. From that very moment, I was converted. Immediately, I draw up another chart for the next year. Yes, 3 years down. It has consistently happening that way.

Then one day, a rare moment that I would spend in front of the TV (I don’t really watch TV :P), it was Oprah show. It was talking about THE SECRET. There were several “gurus” on the show. As they share about The Secret, The Law of Attraction, I was sitting there in smilling & noding to myself because that was what I did for the last three years & I have many of my major goals/resolutions achieved that way.

Following that, I went on to watch the The Secret Video, read the book, scanned the Science of Getting Rich just to verify. Is it big deal? No, it is no big deal because it is not a “Magic wand” to give you what you want and best of all, it can’t be used to rob/hurt.harm others. It still take time, it still take efforts & work. But it is the state it puts you in, thus it changes your life perspective, your outlook, your feelings, your emotions,……Well, whatever you call it. Law of Attraction, The Secret, Science of Getting Rich, Power of Intention………whatever name you give it, it doesn’t matter. But it is the Law of life I suppose. It’s working in everyone’s life bringing successful, happiness, passion, fulfulment..it also bring depression, failure, rejection,…..

So, choose for yourself which do you want to attract ?

Success ? Happiness ? Courage ? fulfilment ? Love ?……………or

Fear ? rejection ? hatred ? failures ? emptiness ?

Nobody can do it for you. You & you alone is accountable & responsible for your own life. To live in good vibes or bad vibes ? Your choice.

Years ago, when I was with a European based IT vendor, an unintentional visit to the server room, I made a shocking discovery, ie. all our email boxes in Lotus Notes were being duplicated in the server. From then on, I always keep in mind that never never have personal stuff, being sensitive or not, sent to company email address.

After I made the switch to headhunting, it has been my policy not to send email to candidates’ company email as I do not want to jeopardized their career instead of helping them. I have always make it a point to inform candidate not to do so too.

Years of working experience, I thought I have seen the worse, ie. company with internal camera & duplicate mail boxes. Oh, how wrong was I. I discovered, there are also companies who assigned mail assess password to the employees which they are not allow change them. The reason was, so that the management is able to access to the mail box for important business followup when the departure of employees happen.  Is this the most lame excuse of a control freak boss ?

The wonderful thing in life is, there is always new surprises when you think you have seen it all. My latest discovery was, there is even boss who will set his employees’ email boxes on “auto forward”, forwarding his employees’ incoming mails into his personal email box!! Mind you, this is the boss who preaches that there must be trust, embrace, bla bla bla :)

Speechless yet ? :) Mis-use of trust ? intrude personal privacy ? company policy ? call it whatever you want. The moral of  the story is no matter how unassuming your boss is, always give him/her the benefit of the doubt. So, use your personal email for personal matter, even the most unimportant trivial matter.
