We have heard about OPM. If you have not, let me explain. OPM stands for Other People’s Money. This is the common abbreviation used by the creative small business entrepreneurs.

Today, I learn of something new. OPT, OPW, OPE.

Today, I learned of a business model by a well known established international firm in the Service Consulting industry, listed in a certain bursa. The business model is for business expansion.

How does it work ?

There looking for non salary drawing Associates to join them. They provide all business operation platform, ie. the office, the business cards, the technology, the company Name & branding. The associates work to bring in the business, deliver & bill and get a share of the commission. Yes, transport, mobile phone bills, medical, etc on your own for a share of 50% of the billing revenue.

For a start  they are looking for an “enterprising individual” with the right experience, background & knowledge to head up this practive. Yes, this person will also be non salary drawing. This person is expected to build this practice, ie. penetrate the marketing, knock doors, sell, close  the deal, recruit a team of associates and deliver. This person is expected to carry a revenue quota of 1 - 1.5mil, compliance with the company ISO processes & delivery standards ! 

Their target candidate : someone with some level of financial sustainibility, have the business network, want time freedom & flexibility and yet earn.

Some of you may think is a fair share but I find it really is exploiting in the big organization expansion plan. If an individual is of some level of financial sustainability, has business network, has the background & experience. What is stopping him /her to go on his/her own in a low capital Service / Consulting but highly competitive & crowded industry ? Why would he / she subject him/herself to all your KPI shit ya ? 

My conclusion is it is the ultimate exploitattion, taking advantge of people, making use of people situation. It is cheapskate. Don’t you think so ? Will you take such an offer ? What say you ?

I was instroduced to this principle a decade back. A time when I was focusing on seeking employment with reputable MNCs, building a “career” and not a life. It didn’t quite hit home till years later, that I realized, “hey, heck with the positions with the MNCs. I need to be debt free, learn & be incharge of personal financial / investment management, seek increase the income stream(s) especially the passive one towards financial independence if not freedom.

Am I there like my personal friend here ? Hell, NOT YET. Far off in fact but the very least, I have started the journey. This video he put together is a reminder. Hope this will sound the alarm for you too.

In this world, success are worhsipped like it’s effortless & easy, as though it was pure “luck”. The truth is, there are stories / testimonies of endless tenancity, tears, frustration, pain, loneliness…………………….etc. If only people will shift their attention to the JOURNEY to success, the world will be a very different place I guess.

The last 2-3 weeks has been a little bit of a roller coaster. The news of an ex-colleague admitted to hospital for a major brain tumour operation followed by the +ve biopsy of the tumour being cancerous. The news has been weighing on my mind all weeks. The struggles of her not wanting us to contact her making it harder for us especially when we are so concern wanting to know how she is doing & etc. But we all understand she needed space now. As much as we all love her a lot & wanted to support her, we all can only pull back & say a prayer everytime we thought of her.

Cancer, a word that can shattered anyone’s hope & zap the life out of anyone’s life. I have quite a number of friends who had terminal illness. And to those close to me will know, I try my level best to eat clean food, exercise &  cleanse. But the documentary @ Home & Health minutes ago gave me that sudden light bulb moment.

Lance Armstrong went through the worse cancer that spreaded from testicle to lungs to brain and survive the worse toxic treatment. He came out stronger & better to do the impossible winning 7 TDF.   A triathlete who race at least 3 triathlon a year had a deadly lungs cancer which recurred 4x despite Dr’s best effort. But it was when she finally came to term with it and shift happened within that the cancer lost it power over her and she started to recover. A 35 miles cross country champion runner had a cancer situation where his leg has to be amputated from ankle down. Cancer was not his focus, but the life beyond it to be back to sports is. In that way, cancer lost its power over him too. A newscaster had breast cancer, instead of being a victim mentality, she annouced it over the air, agree to be part of cancer research having a goal far beyond herself and she won the fight.

Moral of the story is the power of your life is in your hand. When a challenge present itself, whatever it maybe, it is our choice to give the challenge the power over us & become the victim of it or we can rise up, take the power that God bestowed upon us, look fear into the eye & be a victor. 

Let Every action be directed to some DEFINITE Object and Perfect in its way
